The total output of the 200 biggest ethanol producers in USA exceeds an annual 11 billion gallons of corn ethanol.

The biggest of the biofuel manufacturing companies in Iowa and USA is Archer Daniels Midland. The company produces foodstuff, ethanol and chemicals. It has ethanol plants all across America.

BioFuel Energy Corporation’s website states that its goal is to become one of the leading ethanol producers in the USA. Well, they have already reached their goal with more than 230 million gallons of corn ethanol per year. BioFuel Energy Corp is operating in Nebraska and Minnesota.

VeraSun Hankinson is by far the biggest ethanol producers start-up in USA this year. They finished building its impressive plant in North Dakota only in summer 2008. It has a capacity to process around 40 million bushels of corn into 110 million gallons of pure alcohol. The VeraSun website has a good bit of general information about corn ethanol.

Abengoa Bioenergy company is probably one of the most internationalized biofuel companies in the world. Apart from its successful operation in USA, Abengoa has a network of high-tech plants and laboratories in Europe, which includes three ethanol plants in Spain and four in the UK, France, Germany and Netherlands respectively. Besides it has a secret new fuel technologies plant in Salamanca, Spain, where they try to optimize the processing of straw into ethanol.
